What is FSSAI

What is FSSAI License?

FSSAI License is required for food-related enterprises or sectors. A food safety certificate given by the Indian food authority is required to manufacture any new food product. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India is another name for this governmental organisation (FSSAI). It also indicates whether or not a business complies with the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006.

As previously noted, before commenting on any type of food sector business, FSSAI license or registration is required. Every merchant working in the food industry is required to have a specific licence number that verifies the product's quality and safety for consumption.

Through the issuing of food services licences, the government ensures certain regulations on the quality of food goods, reducing the likelihood of adulteration, poor standardised products, and increasing manufacturers' accountability.

FSSAI Registration or Fssai License Procedures

Step 1:

To fill out the FSSAI online registration form, you should seek the assistance of an FSSAI licence expert. You must fill out FSSAI online registration form-A on the FSSAI website and pay for your FSSAI application at an FBO in your area.

Step 2:

After the payment confirmation appears in your FSSAI account, you must complete and submit the FSSAI online registration Form B to the government. Multiple declarations and resolutions, such as board resolution and owner self-declaration, must be filed with your FSSAI online registration Form. An FSSAI licence consultant should ideally prepare these disclosures.

Step 3:

Next, check the status of your FSSAI product approval application's FSSAI licence. If you do not answer within 15 days of receiving your FSSAI product approval application, the government may return it back to you for revisions. Otherwise, your FSSAI product approval application will be refused. As a result, it is critical to check the FSSAI licence status yourself or through an FSSAI licence consultant.

The FSSAI department was established with the goal of improving the efficiency and affordability of product safety registration and regulation in India. With the passage of time, it became evident that a body to supervise food safety inspections across India was required. The reason for this was that the country's whole food security management and control structure was in disarray. As various departments around the country were entrusted with jobs, food safety standards in the country became extremely tough to monitor. A new government entity called FSSAI was created to prevent disruptions and make the process more efficient. It was tasked with all of the above functions. In other words, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) was made the only department in the country with the authority to oversee food safety and quality standards across the country. To operate in the market today, all food manufacturers must get an FSSAI registration/license.

There are three categories of FSSAI registrations. FSSAI Basic registration: For yearly turnover under Rs.12 lakh, apply for an FSSAI State licence. For annual turnover between Rs.12 lakh and Rs.20 crores, apply for a State level licence. Apply for a Central Level License from the FSSAI if your annual revenue exceeds Rs.20 crores.

The FISSAI licence is valid for one to five years. The licence must be renewed within 30 days of its expiration date.

30 days before the original licence expires, the licence can be renewed. To re-file the Form A and Form B for renewing of the application / licence, you'll need your current licence number. The renewal of the licence takes 30-40 days. The renewal fee is the same as the fee for a new licence.
